I would definitely eat here again
My wife and I were looking for a place to have dinner in Santa Cruz. After searching Yelp we decided on the Water Street Grill. When we arrived we found that the restaurant was just reopening after a rebranding.
There was only one other group in the restaurant so we had no problem getting a table. It was obvious that the place was recently remodeled. The menu had a nice selection of food. The wait staff was attentive.
I chose to have fish and chips plus some clam chowder. The chowder was excellent. I especially like the large chunks of clams in it, much larger than most chowder I have had. The fish was tasty and was cooked perfectly (biggest problem I find with fried fish is it is overcooked). The portion was a good size for the price.
My wife had the Calamari Almondine. The portion size was excellent. The calamari was tender and cooked perfectly. It had a very buttery taste. She was very happy with it.
We share a chocolate lava cake for dessert. The server told us it would take about 15 minutes for it to be prepared. It was definitely worth the wait. The chocolate sauce in the middle of the cake was so rich. The berries on it were fresh. Very enjoyable.
I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at the Water Street Grill. I would definitely eat there again.
